FAQ
What
is CPanel?
CPanel
is used to administer your domain. From CPanel, you can
create email accounts, setup FTP users and databases as
well as utilise the varied scripts available.
How
do I create email accounts for my domain(s) ?
Email
accounts for the individual domains are created through
CPanel. Please use the related guide here.
How
do I ftp into my account to upload my files ?
When
you initially sign up and are setting up/transferring your
domain name you can use the IP provided with your account
as the ftp address.
The
FTP username and password are the same login details used
to login to your CPanel.
Upload
all files to the public_html directory except cgi scripts,
which go in the cgi-bin directory.
Once
the domain is pointing to our DNS server you can log into
ftp using ftp.yourdomainname.com.
How
do I access my email ?
There
are two methods for accessing email from your account once
you have created a mail account. One is to setup up your
email client (e.g. Outlook Express). In the Mail Server
Name field you should use,
mail.yourdomainname.com
You
can also access your email using the webmail feature. All
you need to do is go to the URL
www.yourdomainname.com/webmail/
What
do I use as the incoming and outgoing mail servers?
Please
use mail.yourdomainname.com for both incoming and outgoing
mailservers.
I
can't send any emails through the SMTP mailserver
Please
check that SMTP authorization is ticked in your email client.
For Outlook Express users, go to Tools --> Accounts -->
Properties of the appropriate account --> Service and
at the bottom of that, tick "My Server requires Authentication"
Why
does my email return the error '-ERR You have exceeded the
number of connections you are permitted to make per hour.
Please wait a couple of minutes and try again.'?
Emails
can only be checked once each 5 minutes if you are using
an email client Outlook Express.
I
am getting the error "Relaying Denied" or "
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts
(#5.7.1)" when I try to send mail through my email program
Please
see the answer above.
I
am receiving a "The connection to the server has failed.
Account: '', Server: 'mail.yourdomainname.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E" error when attempting to send emails.
The
error you are receiving indicates that it is a Port 25 problem,
where your ISP is blocking the use of external mail servers,
or port 25.
You may wish to you contact your ISP and check whether they
have recently started doing this as many ISPs are now blocking
the usage of port 25 to stop spam being sent from their
servers. If they do restrict usage of external mail servers
to send emails, you will need to use their mailserver name
as the outgoing smtp mailserver in your email client for
this email account. It will still appear as coming from
the domain but will be using your ISP mailserver to send
instead.
How
can I stop people from using my website to send spam email
?
Please
do not use any formail.pl or formail.cgi scripts to send
results from webpages to email. Please find another script/method
to send results from a webpage to email or better yet, send
form results to the server and retrieve them from there.
We have very strict policies on Spam email, it is your responsibility
to ensure that your account is secure and to report any
suspect activity to Support.
We
would advise using the PHPFormmail available at the following
location -
http://www.boaddrink.com/projects/phpformmail/
Can
I send email lists?
If
you wish to send out an email list either through our servers,
or through another server, that has links referencing to
a site hosted on our servers, you must obtain prior permission
from support@zzhosting.com.
Please include in this email, what the list will be for,
the expected size the list will be and the frequency with
which it will be sent out.
Where
do I find the Path to Send Mail, Perl and my home directory
?
Upload
this script called
Perl Diver to your cgi-bin, CHMOD it to 755 and then
run it from your web browser. It will provide full path
information specific to the domain.
How
do I use SSI (server side includes) on my site ?
Use
the extension .shtml on the file with the SSI in it.
How
do I access Fantastico ?
The
Fantastico Control Panel can be accessed using the Fantastico
button in your CPanel.
I
can't Publish my Front Page Website?
Make
sure the domain name is resolving to our server.
Check that you have enabled FrontPage extension from your
CPanel.
Check
that you are using the correct Front Page username and password
if you have authorization enabled.
Check that you are publishing to http://www.yourdomainname
NOTE:
Front Page users cannot use FTP or File Manager to upload
their Front Page files. Front Page sites must be published
using Front Page.
How
long will it take to be able to view my site once it has been
setup?
Please
ensure that the DNS information for the domain has been
correctly set to the nameservers listed in your Welcome
to ZZ Hosting email. Nameserver changes can be made through
your Domain Registrar, this is whom the domain was registered
through. It generally takes between 24-72 hours for any
nameserver updates to be fully processed.
If
you are ensure whom you have registered the domain through,
please contact support@zzhosting.com providing the domain
name and we will check this for you.
Do
you do backups of the web server ?
We
do backup our servers once each month, however our backups
are for use in a full system restore situation only. It
is important for you to maintain regular backups of all
important files, including scripts and databases.
How
do I access my Statistics ?
Log
into your CPanel. Next click on Web/FTP Stats, and then
finally Webalizer. A new page will pop up with your stats.
The stats are updated daily. It is also possible to download
the log file from your Logs directory and use any Log analyzer
of your choice to produce statistics.
I
have uploaded my files to the server but when I go to my domain
I still get the placeholder.
You
may not have uploaded your index.html page. This will overwrite
the default placeholder index.html. If you have already
done this, click refresh on your browser. You can also upload
a page called index.htm but you will need to delete the
index.html file for it to work.
I
have uploaded my files to your server but am getting a "Forbidden.
You don't have permissions to access / on this server"
when I try to view my domain.
This
indicates that there is no index.html or index.htm file
in the directory you are trying to access.
I
have just purchased my domain/changed the nameservers on an
existing domain to point to your servers. How long until I
am able to view my site on the WWW?
It
will take between 24-72 hours for the new and changed name
server to spread throughout the internet.
What
are the nameservers for the server my account is hosted on?
This
information is supplied in your ZZ Hosting - Account Setup
email. If you do not have access to this, please contact
support@zzhosting.com
for the nameserver information, supplying your account username.
